Parent-Teacher Conference Week:

Make sure you sign up for a conference. Conferences will be virtual in Microsoft Teams or you can request a phone conference. In the comments, write your child’s name. In the comments, if you want a phone conference, tell me & give your phone number. Check your CTLS Parent (ParentSquare) for the link.

Topics of Learning for Next Week:

-ELA: Students are learning how to plan and draft a narrative. Specifically, they are writing a monologue from one character’s perspective in Esperanza Rising’s book.  Ask your child about the importance of perspective and how different people can see the same event in different ways.

-Grammar: Students will be studying commas in a series, which means using commas to separate a list of items. Since this should be a review, quiz will be on Thursday of this same week.

-Social Studies: Students will be learning about inventors at the turn of the century (1920s) and how they impacted society.

-Math:

Standard:

NBT.2: Use exponents to name place value units and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point.

NBT.7: Multiply decimal fractions with tenths by multi-digit whole numbers using place value understanding to record partial products.

Parents: If you would like to help your student(s) with the current standards, use the notes from their journal and the county video on CTLS. The video is full of great information and strategies that will help you support their learning.

-Science: We are continuing with vertebrate and invertebrate animals and features. Please help your student read the content in their science book and go over the notes in their science journal. (pages 311-323)

Shrinky-dink Fundraiser (Art class): Be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Thompson (art teacher). The cap is 30 participants. The cost is $5 and students MUST be registered with ASP to sign up.

Thank you for being so wonderful and supportive. Mr. Connelly and I are always here for you and your child. Feel free to reach out to us anytime. We appreciate all that you do!
